Gluten-Free Vegan Quinoa Loaf - Episode #299

See video

Brock makes an easy quinoa loaf from Ellen Jaffe Jone's book "Eat Vegan on $4 a Day", that works out to only $0.75 per serving! Delish! FYI: Ellen's pricing is based on pricing that's as accurate as she could calculate (more information on this in her book). But food prices vary worldwide and/or change from day to day. Her point is to show that you can save cash and still eat healthy.

Previously, Marta interviewed Ellen via Skype and talked all about her journey, and how a vegan lifestyle has helped her achieve terrific fitness goals.

Grow Your Own Garlic - Episode #283

See video

How to Grow Garlic at Home:

1. Plant in the fall. Stick individual cloves6 inches apart, 4 inches deep in soil with pointy end facing up.
2. After planting, cover area with mulch (we used dried leaves). This keeps moisture in the soil through the winter, but insulates so it won't freeze.
3. In the spring, remove any weeds that come up.
4.Remove the scapes once they curl (as Marta did in the video).
5. Harvest garlic bulb in the fall, once the stalks turn brown.
6. Cure the garlic by hanging to dry for 2-3 weeks.
